RTC-KorPhil, Davao Embarks on STAR Rating Online Validation for Organic Agriculture Production NC II

In a significant stride towards excellence in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC), Davao, participated in the Online National Validation for the STAR (System for TVET Accreditation and Recognition) Rating. The validation, tailored specifically for the Organic Agriculture Production NC II Qualification, is scheduled last Thursday, August 3, 2023, via Google Meet. 

This initiative marks a determined effort by RTC-KPVTC, Davao, to further enhance the quality and recognition of its Organic Agriculture Production NC II program, which was the sole qualification from the Training Center who is vying for a one-star award.

The STAR Rating Online National Validation encompasses a comprehensive evaluation process, involving interviews and the presentation of evidences that showcase the program’s effectiveness, relevance, and impact. The validation serves as a robust mechanism to assess the program’s alignment with industry standards and the achievement of outcomes that exceed the minimum requirements set by TESDA.

Under the STAR Rating, programs are deliberated for its excellence in terms of four (4) criteria; namely, Criterion 1: Governance and Management, Criterion 2: Curriculum and Program Delivery, Criterion 3: Support Services, and Criterion 4: Program Performance Measures. 

Present during the online validation are the RTC-KorPhil administrative and support staff and other process owners, headed by the Center Administrator, Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr., Ed. D., Mr. Gil D. Gonzalez, Supervising TESD Specialist, Mr. Mario M. Dela Cerna, Training Department Head, and Mr. Aenon Prince A. Alporte, Administrative Head. For the OAP NC II trainers under the Diploma in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Technology (DABET), present during the validation are Engr. Ailyn R. Tejero, Ms. Mary Grace A. Pelayo, Ms. Ianna Marie D. Pioquinto, and Mr. Jay Mark B. Nuevo.

This strategic move by RTC-KPVTC, Davao, to undergo the STAR Rating Validation is inspired by the prestigious TESDA STAR Awards. The STAR Awards, a prominent component of the System for TVET Accreditation and Recognition Program, commend TVET programs that surpass the baseline standards of program registration established by TESDA. The recognition not only highlights the dedication of institutions to deliver exceptional education but also serves as a benchmark for aspiring excellence in TVET.

The pursuit of the STAR Rating reflects RTC-KPVTC, Davao’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation, relevance, and industry-driven education. By participating in the validation process, the institution aims to further elevate its Organic Agriculture Production NC II qualification, ultimately contributing to a skilled and competitive workforce that meets the demands of the ever-evolving agricultural landscape and TVET Training.
