RTC-KPVTC, Davao capped its Earth Month 2026 Celebration with the Green Action Day: Clean & Hydrate, a campus-wide clean-up and reusable habit drive held on April 30, 2026, the final day of the month-long observance. The activity brought together employees and trainees in a unified effort to leave the campus cleaner, greener, and more sustainable.
The activity was anchored on four (4) components. The Campus Clean-Up Drive mobilized all personnel and trainees to clean their assigned areas and common spaces across the campus, collecting solid waste and residual materials using sacks brought by participants. The Greening Our Spaces component engaged participants in basic landscaping and greening efforts, such as planting, watering, and tending to plants within the campus to enhance the Center’s green environment.

Simultaneously, the Reduce Plastic Waste component reinforced proper waste segregation practices and encouraged the elimination of single-use plastics within the campus. This was complemented by the Water Tumbler Day, a simple but impactful initiative where all were required to bring and use their own reusable water bottles or tumblers throughout the activity, sending a clear message against single-use plastic use and promoting a culture of conscious hydration habits. The Green Action Day served as a fitting close to the Center’s Earth Month 2026 calendar, moving from awareness and exhibits earlier in the month to direct, hands-on environmental action on its final day. The collective participation of all employees and trainees demonstrated that environmental responsibility is a shared commitment that goes beyond individual behavior and into institutional culture.

As ways forward, the Green TVET team is set to continue advancing the institutionalization of a regular campus clean-up schedule, at least once a month so as to sustain the cleanliness and orderliness achieved during the Green Action Day. There are also talks as to the adoption of the Water Tumbler Day as a standing practice during all Center-wide activities to continuously discourage single-use plastic use among employees and trainees. Lastly, it was also recognized that there is a need t document and use the Green Action Day as a model for future Earth Month and Green TVET activities, highlighting collective campus-wide participation as a key feature.
