Bangladeshi Government Officials Embark on Educational Journey in the Philippines

In an inspiring cross-border initiative, the International Labour Organization (ILO) facilitated a transformative study tour for 15 government officials hailing from various regions of Bangladesh. This enlightening tour, which commenced on October 6, 2023, included a visit to the Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Davao, where meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange took center stage.

The primary objective of this study tour was to provide valuable insights into the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) programs and services. It is part of the broader initiative known as the “Promoting Gender Responsive Enterprise Development and TVET Systems” (ProGRESS) Project, aimed at fostering gender-responsive practices within vocational training and enterprise development. The Bangladeshi delegates embarked on this journey with the intention of gleaning innovative strategies that could be replicated within their own country to further enhance their skills development programs.

Peter Bellen, Chief Technical Advisor of the International Labour Organization, Mofizul Islam, Directorate of Technical Education – ILO Bangladesh, Samia Alam, Deputy Secretary – Ministry of Finance Economic Relations Division, and Sharnalata Roy, President of Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Bangladesh, were among the dignitaries who visited RTC-KPVTC Davao.

Upon their arrival at RTC-KPVTC Davao, the distinguished delegates were warmly received by Center Administrator Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr., Ed.D., Mario M. Dela Cerna, the Head of the Training Department, and Jestony Mark P. Aprong, the Scholarship Focal. This reception marked the beginning of a rich exchange of knowledge and experiences between the Bangladeshi officials and their Filipino counterparts, promoting international collaboration and capacity-building in the field of technical education and skills development.

This visit follows the recent Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) held on September 20, 2023, at RTC-KPVTC Davao. These events collectively underscore the center’s role as a vital hub for education and skills development, not only on a national but also on an international level, demonstrating the center’s commitment to fostering education and skill development on a global scale.
