From Waste to Wonder as RTC-KPVTC, Davao Launches Green Exhibits and Creations Challenge for Earth Month 2026

In celebration of Earth Month 2026 Celebration, the RTC-KPVTC, Davao under Memorandum No. 343, s. 2026, and spearheaded by the Green TVET Team, implemented three (3) complementary activities throughout the month of April 2026 aimed at fostering a culture of environmental awareness, green innovation, and creative sustainability among personnel and trainees.

The Green Haven Corner, set up and maintained throughout the whole month of April, served as a dedicated eco-learning space within the Center’s premises. It featured indoor plants, sustainable practice materials, and environmental educational references, creating a calm and purposeful space that promoted daily awareness of green practices among employees and trainees. The corner reinforced the principle that sustainability can begin in small, everyday spaces.

Alongside it, the Green Vision Exhibit was displayed throughout April as an interactive showcase of innovative green technologies, sustainability initiatives, and eco-friendly solutions. The exhibit featured informational panels on solar energy, wind power, green building systems, and other sustainable projects, providing personnel and trainees with an accessible and engaging learning experience on the role of technology in addressing environmental challenges.

On April 22, 2026, the Green TVET Team conducted the Green Creations Challenge, a creativity-based competition where RTC-KPVTC, Davao trainees transformed recyclable and waste materials into functional or artistic products such as creative wall designs and miniature houses using recyclable materials. The challenge encouraged trainees to think innovatively about waste reduction and upcycling, applying both technical creativity and environmental consciousness. Participants showcased a range of outputs that demonstrated ingenuity in repurposing materials that would otherwise contribute to waste.Together, the three activities created a cohesive Earth Month experience that moved beyond a single event, thereby embedding environmental values into the daily environment of the Center, engaging learners through interactive exhibits, and challenging trainees to take creative and tangible action toward sustainability.
