28 Dabawenyos Gain Plumbing Skills through RTC-KPVTC, Davao DCWD Partnership

Strengthening community-based technical capacity and promoting accessible water service support at the grassroots level, the Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC), Davao, in partnership with the Davao City Water District (DCWD), is currently conducting an ongoing Plumbing NC II training from March 11 to April 29, 2026 at Brgy. 76-A, Bucana.

Facilitated by TESDA Specialist II Edison C. Tasic, the training brings together 28 trainees from ten barangays across Davao City, namely Tacunan, Talomo Proper, Maa, 17-B (Obrero), 76-A (Bucana), 25-C (Poblacion District), Calinan Poblacion, Matina Aplaya, Bunawan, and Sto. Niño (Tugbok District). The host barangay, Brgy. 76-A Bucana, serves as the central training venue.

The initiative forms part of a broader collaboration formalised through a Memorandum of Agreement between RTC-KPVTC Davao and DCWD. The partnership aims to organise and capacitate barangay-based plumbers’ associations, enhancing adherence to plumbing standards while ensuring the availability of affordable and reliable after-the-meter services within communities.

Through DCWD’s support, trainees benefit from fully subsidised training costs, free competency assessment, and starter toolkits, significantly lowering barriers to skills development and employment. This initiative not only equips participants with technical competencies aligned with national certification standards but also opens up sustainable livelihood opportunities within their respective communities.
