USAID Opportunity 2.0 team Courtesy Call and Site Visit

On March 15, 2023, the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Team from the Education Development Center paid a courtesy call to the TESDA XI Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center located in Buhisan Tibungco, Davao City, Davao del Sur. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the upcoming Region-wide Training of Trainers (TOT) on 21st Century Skills, scheduled to take place from March 21-24 and March 28-31, 2023, likewise to conduct a site visit.

The USAID Opportunity 2.0 Team was composed of International Senior Technical Advisor, Chris Murray, TESD Coordinator, John Ralph Sandoval, and Youth Development Coordinator, Isagani Busque from Education Development Center. During their visit, they had the opportunity to tour the Training Center and talked with the trainers who will participate in the Region-wide TOT on 21st Century Skills. The visit gave them a better understanding of the facilities and services provided by the Center, and they were impressed by the Center’s efforts to deliver quality education to students and trainees.

International Senior Technical Advisor, Chris Murray, commended the Training Center, saying, “This is the best Training Center I have seen so far. The equipment was tidy, well-maintained, with protective gear, and organized.” He also spoke with Joseph Junio, the head of training for the Diploma of Welding Technology, and observed that the students were relaxed and happy to be there.

The visit of the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Team to the Training Center is a testament to the Center’s commitment to providing quality education and skills development. It recognizes the efforts of the trainers and staff of the Center in delivering quality technical education to the trainees. The visit also strengthens the partnership between the Education Development Center and the Training Center, which will benefit both parties in achieving their respective goals.
