TESDA Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Officers, Korean Overseas Volunteer (KOV) Visit NEDA Davao

(Davao City, 12 January 2023). Mr. Choi Gyong Sik, a Korean Overseas Volunteer (KOV), together with TESDA XI Regional Training Center Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Administrator Engr. Constantino Panes and Mr. Jonathan V. Lopez visited the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office XI on January 12, 2023 for a courtesy call and briefing on the Region’s Socioeconomic conditions and development forecasts. 

The deployment of Mr. Choi to RTC-KPVTC is in consonance with the signed Memorandum of Agreement between and among the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to provide technical support and training programs for TESDA trainers and trainees in the field of education, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, health, public administration and industrial energy through the assistance from the World Friends of Korea (WFK). 

Mr. Choi belongs to the 90th batch of volunteers dispatched by KOICA to the Philippines in response to RTC-KPVTC’s request for a Korean language teacher through the PNVSCA’s international volunteer service program. 

NRO XI Assistant Regional Director Gilberto A. Altura, with Chief Economic Development Specialist (EDS) Lalaine M. Sajelan and Supervising EDS Janice May A. Cerezo, Development Research Division welcomed the visitors. ARD Altura briefed the team highlighting the Socio Economic Development Performance of the Davao Region in CY 2022 and the Region’s thrusts espoused by the formulation of the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) 2023-2028. He emphasized the relevance and contribution of the TESDA’s mandate under the DRDP outcome on Expand Training and Skills Development that shall increase income earning ability of individuals and families in line with the economic transformation through servicification, digitalization, and innovation. 

Engr. Panes responded that TESDA shall integrate the DRDP’s priorities in the forthcoming formulation of the agency’s Institutional Development Plan (IDP). Mr. Choi was glad to visit the NRO XI and shall commence his volunteer work on January 16, 2023 until October 2023. (Janice May A. Cerezo, Supervising EDS, NEDA XI-DRD) ##
