RTC-KPVTC, Davao Leverages USEP Expertise to Boost Income-Generating Projects

When funding falls short, innovation must step up. This was the driving force behind RTC-KPVTC, Davao’s recent partnership with the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), as the Training Center sought expert guidance to turn its income-generating ideas into sustainable realities.

On July 8, 2025, the Training Center gathered its staff and trainers for a focused consultation designed to reshape its financial strategies and fuel long-term growth. The session, held at the Mini Theater, featured Dr. John Mark S. Francisco, Director of USEP’s Resource Management Division, who shared actionable approaches for creating and managing income-generating projects based on the university’s own success.

Income-generating projects (IGPs) are increasingly vital for TESDA Technology Institutions like RTC-KPVTC, Davao. By building their own revenue streams, these Training Centers can expand training programs, improve facilities, and reduce reliance on government funding.

This partnership with USEP marked a strategic move to adopt proven models from academia and apply them in the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. It also aligned with TESDA’s broader goal of empowering its training institutions to be resourceful, resilient, and future-ready.

Following the consultation, Dr. Francisco, together with his colleagues, had a brief tour of several workshop areas at the Training Center. The visit allowed the USEP team to gain firsthand insights into RTC-KPVTC, Davao’s training operations and explore potential areas where income-generating activities could be further developed.

With new ideas in hand, RTC-KPVTC, Davao is poised to roll out improved income-generating initiatives in the months ahead, aiming not only to sustain its own operations but also to contribute to the wider Davao community’s livelihood and growth.
