In a collaborative move to enhance Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and expand employment opportunities, the Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC), Davao held a strategic meeting with Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) on July 1, 2025, at the Office of the Center Administrator.
Present from HPI were Jun V. Lomibao Jr., Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program Head; Dexter V. Estrella; and Alain Rey T. Longaquit, both from the Customer Service Division. Representing RTC-KPVTC, Davao were Center Administrator Engr. Constantino B. Panes Jr., Ed.D and Engr. Lougino A. Miguel, Head Trainer of Diploma in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering Technology and Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing (MSES) NC II Trainer.
The meeting focused on the implementation of HPI’s “Honda Room” program—a CSR initiative aimed at enhancing the training and employability of trainees in the field of automotive and motorcycle servicing. Mr. Lomibao introduced HPI’s updated curriculum, which includes Safety and Defensive Driving, Basic Theory (COM/FUN), Customer Service, Sub Instructor Training, Discipline, and Morning Exercises, all designed to instill industry-relevant skills and work ethics.
Another key agenda was the alignment of RTC-KPVTC, Davao’s training outputs with the manpower needs of HPI dealerships. HPI committed to providing a Dealer Guide for Supervised Industry Learning (SIL), serving as a preparatory tool before trainees begin actual work experience. The company also expressed support for endorsing top-performing graduates from Training Center to its On-the-Job Training (OJT) program.

The second batch of OJTs is expected to begin by August to September 2025, along with a full donation from HPI to support the partnership. Discussions also covered expanding training to include Big Bikes, Electric Vehicles (EVs), Power Products, and Outboard Engines, as well as conducting Trainers’ Training for technical schools.
To ensure long-term impact, both parties agreed to monitor graduate success stories, conduct profiling, and continually assess the program’s effectiveness. This partnership exemplifies a forward-looking approach to TVET, where industry and education converge to build a competent and competitive Filipino workforce.
