RTC-KorPhil Davao to welcome another Korean volunteer; meets PNVSCA for site evaluation, monitoring of volunteers

Another Korean Overseas Volunteer (KOV) will set foot in TESDA RTC-KorPhil in Buhisan, Tibungco, Davao City by third quarter of 2023 for a project in irrigated organic urban farming.

The deployment of the new KOV is coordinated with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).

PNVSCA, working under National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), is the agency mandated to act as a clearinghouse for matters pertaining to International Volunteer Services (IVS).

Yesterday, June 1, KorPhil headed by Administrator Engr. Constantino B. Panes Jr. Ed.D welcomed PNVSCA officer Ms. Alyssa Villa for the site validation of the coming KOV who will be working in the Diploma in Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Technology to further improve the Center’s Model Farm.

The new volunteer is an expert in agricultural administration for metropolitan and provincial settings with exposure on making agricultural policy, farmland management, eco-friendly agriculture and education of farmers.

In the same visit, Ms. Villa also monitored Mr. Choi Gyongsik, a KOV who arrived in the Center on December 2022 for his project in Korean Language and Culture Training Program for the 3-year Diploma of Technology trainees.

Mr. Choi reported his accomplishments within his first 6 months volunteering in the Center. Some of his works includes conduct of Korean Festival to bring the Korean culture in the Center and training of diploma trainees in writing, reading and speaking Korean Language.
