On June 24, 2026, TESDA XI RTC-KPVTC, Davao provided technical assistance to the Community Development Training of the 27th Infantry (Action) Battalion through the conduct of a lecture entitled “Principles of Vegetable Crop Production: Soils, Nutrients, and Pest Dynamics.”



The activity was started with a Profiling and followed by a session focused on the theoretical aspects of vegetable production, emphasizing the importance of proper soil management, plant nutrition, and pest control strategies in achieving sustainable agricultural productivity. Discussions included soil characteristics and fertility, essential plant nutrients and their functions, nutrient deficiency symptoms, and integrated approaches to pest management.



The lecture highlighted the role of sustainable farming practices in supporting food security and community development initiatives. Participants actively engaged during the discussions by sharing experiences, raising questions, and exchanging ideas relevant to agricultural production in rural communities.
The activity also strengthened the partnership between TESDA XI and the Philippine Army in promoting community development and capacity-building programs through technical education and skills development interventions.


Present during the engagement were: 27th Infantry Battalion, MAJ EFREN JAMES C. HALAWIG (INF) PA, Battalion Executive Officer and 1LT JOSHUA DF DELA CRUZ (SC) PA. For TESDA XI RTC-KPVTC, Davao is Dr. Jestony Mark P. Aprong, MSc., Senior TESD Specialist and Engr. Lougino Miguel, TESD Specialist II.
Twenty-seven (27) uniformed personnel gained enhanced knowledge on vegetable crop production principles. Participants developed awareness of proper soil management and nutrient application practices. Participants acquired basic understanding of pest dynamics and integrated pest management strategies. Strengthened collaboration between TESDA XI RTC-KPVTC and the 27th Infantry Battalion for future agricultural and community development initiatives. Participants expressed interest in pursuing practical and hands-on agricultural training activities in the future.
