From the Frontlines to Food Lines: RTC-KPVTC, Davao Empowers Military Families with Culinary Skills

Not all battles are fought in the field—some are won in the kitchen. On July 2, 2025, military personnel and their dependents traded uniforms for aprons during a one-day livelihood training on Kakanin Bilao and Chips Making held at the Regional Training Center – Korea-Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC), Davao, in partnership with the Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative (PAFCPIC).

This initiative is part of PAFCPIC’s ongoing commitment to support the holistic well-being of military families, who often face unique economic challenges due to deployment and relocation. By working with RTC-KPVTC, Davao — a leading institution for technical-vocational education in the region — they provided accessible, practical skills training that can be immediately turned into sources of income.

Through hands-on instruction in preparing traditional Filipino delicacies and snack chips, the training provided participants with essential skills to start small food ventures from home or within their communities. It also reinforced the role of technical-vocational education in promoting economic self-sufficiency and entrepreneurial thinking among military households.

In a single day, the kitchen became a classroom, and each recipe became a roadmap to opportunity. For the families who joined, the training offered more than skills — it stirred up new hope for a better, self-sustaining future.
