Ceremonial Signing of Memorandum of Understanding and Induction Ceremony Marks a Milestone for Technical Education and Skills Development Authority XI

In a momentous event on July 7, 2023, the Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center in Davao became the venue for the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XI and the Davao City Alliance for Out-of-School Youth Development (DCAOSYD). This event also included the induction ceremony of TVET Association Officers for Davao City and Davao del Sur. The primary objective of this gathering was to strengthen partnerships, promote skills development, and empower the out-of-school youth in the region.

The event saw the presence of esteemed individuals such as DDG Aniceto D. Bertiz III, TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations; Ms. Cherrylin B. Casuga, Chairperson of DCAOSYD; Ms. Nancy Wallace, Interim Chief of Party, USAID Opportunity 2.0; Dir. Ashary A. Banto, Regional Director of TESDA Region XI; Dir. Adonis F. Culas, Provincial Director of TESDA Davao City District Office; and Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr., Ed. D., RTC-KPVTC Davao Center Administrator. Their attendance highlighted their unwavering commitment to advancing technical education and skills development in the region.

The signing of the MOU between TESDA XI and DCAOSYD represents a collaborative partnership focused on the holistic development of out-of-school youth in Davao City. Through this joint effort, both organizations aim to enhance the delivery of Technical-Vocational (TechVoc) programs and services, provide quality education and training opportunities, and equip the youth with the necessary skills for gainful employment.

The MOU signing ceremony began with Engr. Constantino B. Panes, Jr. delivering the opening remarks, expressing gratitude to all the stakeholders involved in making the event possible. He emphasized the importance of partnerships in realizing the vision of a skilled and competent workforce in Davao City. Mr. Robinson Wee, TESD Adviser of USAID Opprtunity 2.0, also shared his thoughts on behalf of Ms. Nancy Wallace, highlighting the role of USAID Opportunity 2.0 in supporting inclusive growth through technical assistance to TESDA and the promotion of public-private partnerships.

Following all the messages from key representatives, the MOU signing took place, signifying the commitment and shared goals of TESDA and DCAOSYD. The MOU outlines specific areas of collaboration, including the development of training programs, curriculum enhancement, and the provision of scholarships for out-of-school youth. These initiatives aim to address the skills gap, reduce unemployment rates, and empower the youth to become productive members of society.

Simultaneously, the induction ceremony for TVET association officers for Davao City and Davao del Sur was held. This ceremony recognized the newly appointed officers who will play crucial roles in advocating for TVET programs and promoting the welfare of technical education students. The inducted officers pledged to uphold the standards of excellence in technical education and skills development and contribute to the growth of the industry in the region.
